Going the Second Mile

Each month, to apply our faith in action, the congregation focuses on a specific  project or activity as we seek a fairer world.  This usually  takes the form of a special offering either of money (the Second Mile offering) or of practical assistance.

Such a project may be an emergency appeal for a specific situation either nationally or internationally, or it may be the regular Christmas Bowl Appeal, Uniting Church SHARE Appeal or Lenten Appeal, all designed to raise funds for people in special need.   Other Second Mile offerings support agencies such as Wesley Mission Lifeline, Sunshine Mission and the local UnitingCare Connections family services.

A recent example of a practical assistance project has been collecting toiletries, cleaning products, and warm clothing for asylum seekers released from detention into the community.
